Our Neighbourhood Garden inspires the poets amongst us into verse. The wonder of planting, and nurturing God's plants inspires these 'young' poets to put pen to paper and fingers to keyboard, with original and often funny verse.
Here is one and more to come ...
and a relevant verse from Scotland.
Oh pumpkin plump and luscious
 You spread out far and wide
 From a single seed you are delicious
 There’s nothing about pumpkins you can hide
 Large leaves with spidery thistles
 Do not detract from your tasty delight
 Just one sample will make you whistle,
 You’ll definitely know you’ve eaten right
It rained and rained and rained and rained,
The average was well maintained;
And when our fields were simply bogs,
It started raining cats and dogs.
After a drought of half an hour,
There came a most refreshing shower;
And then the queerest thing of all,
A gentle rain began to fall.
Next day 'twas pretty fairly dry,
Save for a deluge from the sky.
This wetted people to the skin,
But after that the rain set in.
We wondered what's the next we'd get,
As sure as fate we got more wet.
But soon we'll have a change again,
And we shall have
A drop of rain.
(Very apt for Sydney - A Scottish Poem from the 'Oban News')
