On goes a pumpkin

Off goes your head and on goes a pumpkin! Just about like that last Saturday as we picked a barrow load of lovely pumpkins from our front garden. Whilst we would have liked to leave them a little longer, it appears that quite a few pumpkins had been plucked and taken to the big soup pot by others unknown.
Oh well, we have had a bumper crop despite the horrible weather, so we hope they all tasted wonderfully.
So after Peter plucked a plethora of pumpkins we got down to business.
The side path adjacent to the garage was extensively cleaned up, snappy crunchy peas were picked , but in my case just eaten, all our front beds were fed and it’s great to see the hardening of the cabbages and growth of the broccoli and spinach.
Don’t tell anyone but we have a crop of lettuce ready for picking, but we might just gold plate them first as they are ssoooo rare at the moment!
We have added compost and grass clippings to the pallet patch out back and hidden a few more pumpkin seeds under this mattress, so it will be good to see what happens in the weeks to come.
The mandarins are looking plentiful and ripening nicely - could there be mandarin marmalade coming?
Red cabbages still progressing and surely we will see  broad-beans in a few weeks; pak choi sprouting and with a little sesame oil will make a very healthy side dish.
For the first time in months one of our water tanks actually ran out of water, so yes a little overnight rain would be nice, but not too much, and keep the sunshine coming.
Now the days are getting longer, we can plan for spring / summer - can you believe that!
Happy gardening
