Spring is here ...

Hopefully absence makes the heart grow fonder and everyone will have been on the edge of their lounge chairs awaiting another riveting rural report or maybe not.

Anyway the garden never went away and veggies never take a holiday, they just relax where they have taken root and contemplate their plot.

I hope you have been as interested as I have in the spreading greenery out front - first photo - in a few weeks we will have ploughed this back into the soil in preparation for the next crop….potatoes!

We’ve got a lovely bunch of ——— yes red cabbages - these are looking so good, can’t wait to pick and cook / use these.           red cabbage

Saturday was a miserable day so early morning tea had by all, the only sensible gardener being Elisabeth who only came so someone would send her home; so we did!

The few brave (silly) souls left picked even more peas and wound another higher string around the broad-beans that continue their upwards climb.

Our spinach is strong and plentiful at the moment, as is the warrigal greens , they may just take over the world if they persist in such rapid growth.

We are seeing the first shoots on the young berry and boysenberry plus the blueberries are getting many flowers and perhaps some fruit.

We checked the date of planting our kiwi fruit and discovered this was November 2018, so we are super excited that this maybe the summer when we get produce.

You may have noticed several of our regal sunflowers in the flower arrangement artistically completed but Diana on Sunday- didn’t they look great.

Yes we are now in Spring, warmer weather, new crops, more weeds, but always fun.

Happy gardening
Mick
